Selwyn Yuen is responsible for leading Hillsdale’s applied research function, advancing the firm’s intellectual capital and investment management capabilities through the development of proprietary alpha research and enhanced analytical frameworks, and for leading research initiatives across the Canadian, U.S., and Global equity teams. Prior to joining Hillsdale, Selwyn worked for 7 years at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, most recently in the Quantitative Equities Group as a Portfolio Manager in the Global Equity Strategy. Prior to that, he worked on the derivatives desk at Scotia Capital. Selwyn has been a guest lecturer in the Master’s program at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, teaching quantitative investing for the past several years. He has also been a speaker at international conferences including the PIAC Conference, NYU Stern Microstructure Conference, Midwest Finance Association meeting, IEEE INFOCOM, etc. Selwyn has over 20 years of experience in financial and quantitative analysis. He holds a BASc from the University of Waterloo, an MASc and MFin from the University of Toronto, and a PhD in finance from Northwestern University. Selwyn joined Hillsdale in September 2018.
