Private Wealth Practitioner Series: Using ETFs in Private Client Portfolio Management: Why? Why Not? How?
Date:Tuesday February 8, 2011
Location: Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel
Time: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Summary:
ETF assets under management have increased dramatically in recent years, and a multitude of index, sector, country and commodity ETFs are now available. Portfolio managers and advisors need to know the relevant factors in determining suitability, comparing strategies with/without ETFs, and assessing the pros and cons of incorporating ETFs in the portfolios of their private clients.

This luncheon brings together a range of experts to address practical aspects of the use of ETFs, targeted to the private client marketplace:

• Why do PMs and advisors use/not use ETFs?
• ETF toolkit for practitioners
• Due diligence
• Investment horizon
• Other issues, including fees, size, currency, regulatory risk, taxation, shorting and leverage

This session will begin with a brief overview of ETFs from Greg Walker, CFA followed by a moderated panel discussion. Moderation will be provided by Deborah Frame, CFA with a panel consisting of ETF practitioners and specialists.
