WHAT’S THE OPPORTUNITY?

We have an opportunity for a Lead Data Architect to join our Data Engineering team. Reporting to the Director of Data Engineering, you will:

• Lead a team of Data Engineers to redesign and to refactor the layers in our ETL function and financial database calculations.

• Ensure a robust and flexible data ingestion pipeline drawing from a wide range of global data vendors.

• Research and recommend best practices for data management, ensuring the architecture aligns with overall technology and business needs.

• Implement and maintain a rich catalogue of quantitative factor formulas.

• Be hands-on in implementing core components and refactoring the required databases and processes.

• Ensure timely completion of daily as well as intraday production jobs, providing occasional off-hours support.

• Identify bottlenecks and resolve concurrency deadlocks in high-traffic databases or tables.

• Improve and optimize the speed of complex SQL stored procedures and functions.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING?

• A minimum of 8 years of experience architecting databases in a financial industry

• Degree(s) in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a related discipline

• Experience working with financial datasets and data vendors (e.g. Capital IQ, FactSet, Refinitiv, etc.)

• Demonstrated experience in data architecture design and database administration

• Proficiency with large dataset extraction and manipulation in SQL

• Basic understanding of financial statements, ratios, and investment concepts

• Advanced programming skills in SQL and data schema design

• Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in analysis

• Ability to communicate across investment and technical teams

• Motivated quick learner with ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

Nice to Have (preferred but not required)

• CFA, FRM or related designation

• Prior work experience in the quantitative investment industry

• Experience with unstructured data 

• Advanced Excel user

• Programming skills in other languages a plus: Python, VBA, Java, C/C++, etc.
