Hillsdale’s investment philosophy stems from a belief that a measurable, rational, evidence-based process leads to superior investment results. Consistent with this investment philosophy, Hillsdale’s strategies are based on a disciplined, systematic and dynamic approach to investment decision making.
The underpinnings to our investment philosophy are both traditional and scientific, applying quantitative tools and techniques to fundamental equity research. We believe that a measurable, evidence-based process leads to superior investment results.
Hillsdale embraces the best of both quantitative and fundamental ideologies. Fundamental equity beliefs and research allow us to form hypotheses about what drives individual stock returns while quantitative tools and disciplines are employed to rigorously test these hypotheses. Applying quantitative methods provides Hillsdale with an all important context in which to evaluate current events as well a filter to manage an ever growing volume of data. The quantitative approach allows us to analyze a large number of investments that would otherwise be inaccessible in a more traditional approach. Lastly, the quantitative approach supports our discipline in decision making and forms the structure to implement our risk management platform.
All of Hillsdale’s strategies employ an adaptive, multi-strategy, multi-frequency fundamental approach focused on alpha generation adjusted for risk. In essence, this core investment style results in a smoother journey that is designed to be robust in varying market conditions.
